My Why

I’ve always believed in the power of prevention and that exercise is medicine. While studying Kinesiology, I saw how movement, education, and community could transform lives. Everything changed on August 28, 2016, when I lost my 26-year-old brother to an opioid overdose. That grief became my purpose. I committed myself to understanding why it happened and how to prevent it, earning a PhD in Public Health Sciences, directing an opioid prevention grant, and devoting my research to trauma, substance use, and mental health.
